Agreement Reached for Global eBook Distribution
BOSTON and TORONTO—Trajectory, Inc. and The Ed Greenwood Group today reached an agreement for the global distribution of eBooks produced by The Ed Greenwood Group. The Ed Greenwood Group is a new transmedia publishing concern whose production schedule will include novels, anthologies, RPGs (roleplaying games), card and board games, mobile applications, jewelry, clothing, specialty food items, and much more.
The Ed Greenwood Group launches this October (2015) with its first novel, Your World is Doomed by Ed Greenwood, set in a new urban fantasy setting called Hellmaw. Twenty-four novels will follow, one a month, as Mr. Greenwood and his colleagues initialize the first of six Hellmaw story arcs. The year 2016 will see the launch of a more traditional sword-and-sorcery setting code-named Pony Island Adventures. More settings in more genres will follow—For Wolf & Empire (steampunk), The Lost Princesses of Mars (space opera), and A Handful of Bleeding Stars (science fiction), to name a few.
Trajectory is a Boston-based intelligent network that connects publishers with its global digital distribution network of ebook retailers, libraries, schools, and app distributors. The Trajectory network delivers 300+ international points of distribution representing over 230,000 digital endpoints, including every relevant ebook retailer, library distributor, school distributor, and alternative digital sales channel, to reach a potential English-reading international audience of 850 million people all from a single onboarding point. Trajectory recently introduced a series of algorithms that are being used to address the “book discoverability” issue facing the publishing world. Trajectory’s Natural Language Processing Engine (NLPE) is a vibrant new system for enhanced ebook discoverability and reader engagement.
“Trajectory’s distribution systems for ebooks are nothing short of astonishing,” said Ed Greenwood, TEGG’s president and publisher. “Nobody is better at understanding and adapting to the ever-changing ePublishing environment than Trajectory. We are very excited to be partnering with Trajectory to expand the distribution of our books digitally around the globe. Trajectory’s broad reach uniquely positions us to meet demand for The Ed Greenwood Group products in new markets—especially through eRetail libraries—and internationally.”
“The Ed Greenwood Group’s impressive catalogue will appeal to fantasy and genre readers the world over,” said Scott Beatty, Chief Content Officer of Trajectory, Inc. “It’s an honor to work with such a distinguished author and worldbuilder and the incredible lineup of authors and artists he has collected together. Greenwood’s creation, Forgotten Realms®, will turn 50 this year. It’s been a published setting for almost 30 years and has spawned the creation of thousands of books, comic books, and games by hundreds of writers. We are sure The Ed Greenwood Group’s lineup will enjoy the same success.”
The Ed Greenwood Group will be utilizing Trajectory’s Natural Language Processing technology to derive new data analytics from each title. This new dataset compounds global sales and book discovery by enriching title metadata with keywords, people, and places data for superior audience development and channel discovery. Books within the Trajectory system are compared to each other to generate highly accurate recommendations. The goal is a commercially viable option to sales algorithms, using such factors as keywords, complexity, reading level, and the unique use of language to offer readers an alternative form of guidance.
